A superb, large bark painting from remote Millingimbi Island, off the coast of Central Arnhem Land, Australia. Natural earth pigments on eucalyptus bark. A highly abstracted human figure, moon, egg, ceremonial bag. Fine condition with stable age cracks. Four small holes where bark was mounted, likely in the outback, years ago. While the artist is unknown, this is one the best bark compositions we have handled. Circa early 1960's. On a custom wooden frame. Exceptional.
