Very large Santa Catalina, Solomon Islands Feast Bowl, apira rafa; carved in dark wood with iconic Solomon Island figures facing each other from opposing terminals. Inlaid with shell on both sides and surfaces throughout, including jumping fish motifs. This bowl type was used in memorial feasts for an important person, and would have contained taro pudding. Ready for use. Collected early 1970’s.
