A very old New Hebrides male armband, “pen”, incorporating both coconut and marine shell discs woven onto a sennit frame; exceptional patina. Small section of damage at the center of one side. Ex-Anderson Collection, Melbourne. For a similar example collected by Guiart on Ambrym in 1949, see Arts of Vanuatua, Bonnemaison et al, 1996, fig. 220. New Hebrides, possibly Ambrym Island. Extremely Rare.
