An old aboriginal painted bowl from Jigalong Mission, NW Western Australia. Collected in the late 1940’s by a construction worker from an aboriginal who came from Gibb River, North of Jigalong. Beautifully painted totemic designs with natural earth pigments including ochre, charcoal and pipeclay. Some loss of pigment, but an exceptional piece in form, coloration and design. Rare.
