A very large Senufo throne chair, Ivory Coast, West Africa. With very broad seat, complex carved supports, and flaring arms and back. Clan symbol on reverse back support. Excellent patina and signs of use. This throne was for many years in the collection of a pioneer Los Angeles dealer in African art, and was considered one of the best chairs in the collection.
