Aboriginal Central Desert Churinga - B

A very old aboriginal central desert churinga, with tremendous surface wear, evidence of handling and appreciation over many, many generations. A couple of millimeters of loss on one edge, traces of resin at one end. Ochre has been rubbed into the designs over a period of many years. This piece comes from a collection of aboriginal material that had some of the finest material we have seen. Very special piece. One of the oldest, and best churingas we have handled. Circa 19th century or before.
