Inuit Jade Knife #158014
An ancient Eskimo jade knife from Alaska. This piece is fashioned from milky green, very hard jade stone. A leading edge serves as a sharp blade, while a point at the other end serves for punching, together with a notch for use as a lever. An ancient “Swiss Army Knife”. Jade had an important place in Eskimo culture. It is a very hard stone, and difficult to work, and one which was given great respect by Inuits. This piece would have had ceremonial as well as utilitarian use, and been the prized possession of a shaman or other elder. Rare and desirable.
