Inuit Whale Effigy

A superb wood and iron Eskimo whale effigy. The whale serves as the handle for an iron cutting blade inserted in the belly. Good surface patina. Remnants of glue on reverse of wood where an early collector had affixed it to a display. Circa middle to late 19th century.
