Pre-Columbian Chavin Jade Mace Head

A propeller shaped jade greenstone Mace head. Well carved with beautiful symmetry. Middle to late Chavin Period, Central Coast Peru. Circa 800-400 BC Excavated in the 1950's. Good condition with two repairs. A similar piece is seen in "Precolumbian Art of South America", Alan Lapiner, 1976, ill. 136, that piece in gray stone and in the collection of the American Museum of Natural History. Very rare.
