MB Abram Galleries is pleased to present additional portable sculptures from Ma Bien Aimee.
Ma Bien Aimee was born in the old Vietnamese capital, and spent many years sojourning in the country's Highlands, an isolated tribal region known for its original poetry, sculpture, and song.
From a young age, Ma Bien passionately embraced the arts, eventually leaving native land, and finding a way to studies in Paris, Berlin, and the United States.
Growing up near the old Royal Court, it was perhaps inevitable that these spirits would resonate in Ma Bien's art. Lessons absorbed came to include those of the peoples of the Highlands, and their fervent belief in the power of stones and color to heal, and attract beneficent forces.
MB Abram Galleries, in collaboration with Kelly Roswell, is very honored to present here the inspiration of Ma Bien's years of reflection and meditation.
Mixing rare ancient and contemporary elements, Ma Bien has created powerful and beautiful pieces of portable sculpture, each an original.
These wearable artworks: necklaces, earrings, bracelets and other forms, all carry the artist's prayer "May we each attain Enlightenment in this lifetime."
We are honored that during MB Abram Galleries recent sojourn in New Orleans, two distinguished members of the Vietnamese community of East New Orleans kindly modeled a few of these portable sculptures for us.
