Aboriginal stone hafted pick axe. Quartzite blade affixed to a wooden shaft with spinifex resin and applied red ochre throughout. From Northern Territory. Likely early 20th century. Ex- Naracoorte Museum. There is a very similar example illustrated in Arts de l’Oceanie, Maurice Leenhardt, Paris, 1947, page 12, identified as coming from the MacArthur River Region, Northern Territory.
