Aboriginal Ceremonial Hafted Axe

This is an early aboriginal ceremonial axe of classic design. Open hafting, old stone, native twine, dot decoration and pigment indicating ceremonial use. It was until recently held in continuous possession of one family since the 1930’s. Were it not regretfully damaged, and now fragile, with the loss of much of the original resin attaching the stone to the hafting, it would be a museum piece.
